Have you ever heard of the term auxiliary hospital? An auxiliary hospital is a hospital with a large group of members who perform work without compensation. Their teams depend on the volunteer hours and the dedication of the local community. The crew at Advent Health New Smyrna Beach Auxiliary, has been powering their community hospital since 1960! This auxiliary hospital is a non-profit that has 110 volunteers, which aid patients and medical staff. These volunteers work in a variety of departments like oncology, diabetic health and the gift shop. Each volunteer is provided the proper training to excel and are only asked to serve 60 hours within a 12-month period! Those who volunteer are provided a free meal after four-hour shift as well as free, annual TB screenings and flu shots. Shifts are only four-hours long and are a phenomenal way to help the community. The best part about volunteering for an auxiliary hospital are the connections made with patients and like-minded individuals. Advent Health New Smyrna Beach Auxiliary is searching for impactful volunteers and is inviting anyone who would like to help, to join their team. The work is rewarding, fulfilling and a great way to give back to those in need.
“As you grow older, you will discover that you have two hands, one for helping yourself and the other for helping others.”
— Mother Teresa
