So, You Think Seniors Can’t Dance

Did you know that seniors who participate in dance classes are less likely to suffer from falls? Dancing has also been proven to improve brain health in children and adults. According to the Center for Disease Control and Prevention, areas of the brain that control memory and skills will improve through dance. The dancing has many benefits and dimensions like balance a social setting and fun. It promotes spatial awareness and increases muscular strength. If you would like to learn more about the art of dancing or would just like to have some fun, visit the Schnebly Recreation Center! The center is at 1101 N. Atlantic Ave, Daytona Bch, FL. On Dec. 6th and 7th there will be winter musical/comedy play for a dinner show. The show will be presented by Ms. Cynthia’s Let’s Dance Productions and is called a Miracle on 34th Beach Street. If you cannot make the show, the Schnebly Recreation Center has weekly events curated for seniors like the Live and in Person Bailey’s Best Ballroom Dancing class. Classes take place every Friday from 1:30 pm to 3:30 pm and every Tuesdays from 4:00-5:30 pm for beginners. Every senior’s first class is free.

If you or a loved one would like to dance and meet some great people in the process, call 386-210-7690 to contact the Schnebly Recreation Center.
