Dance is an art form as much as it is an exercise. Through dance, an individual can use their body as a form of expression and let off steam during the process. Dancing not only provides flexibility, strength, and focus, it has amazing health benefits!
Some benefits of dancing:
- Enhanced muscular strength
- Weight loss
- Increased aerobic fitness
- Improved social skills
- Gained bone density
- Strengthened mental functioning
- Improvement of cardiovascular health.
Seniors who participate in dance classes are also less likely to suffer from falls, due to their improved spatial awareness and increased muscular strength. If you would like to have some fun dancing and would also like to learn the art of dance, visit the Schnebly Recreation Center! The center is located at 1101 N. Atlantic Ave, Daytona Bch, FL. They have weekly events curated for seniors like Live and in Person Bailey’s Best Ballroom Dancing. The class takes place every Friday from 1:30 pm to 3:30 pm. Every senior’s first class is free and $5 per person afterward. The Schnebly Recreation Center also offers Dance Choreography Classes on Tuesdays from 4:00-5:30 pm for beginners, at $3 per session.
